Lower Zambezi National Park


The spectacular Lower Zambezi National Park spans 4 092 km² (1 580 square miles). It is situated adjacent to Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools Reserve, creating a giant expanse of protected land, and boasts breathtaking vistas of the Zambezi River.

  

 

The opportunities to get close to game wandering in and out of the Zambezi channels are spectacular, most games are taken place on the valley floor. Visitors can track the footprint of the wildlife by walk and explore the beauty wilderness of the park by canoe.  It is not uncommon to see enormous herds of elephant quenching their thirst and enjoying a good mud bath along the riverbanks, as well as leopard, buffalo and lion. Visitors can canoe past great pods of hippos, track lions through the riverbank thickets, or simply relax in one of several gorgeous lodges.

Many lodges and camps set alongside the Zambezi River, with breathing taking view of the river with numerous hippo and crocodile; Some camps have swimming pool right next to the river, where guests could have extraordinary view the wildlife. Also, numerous herds of elephant, some up to 100 strong, are often seen at the river’s edge. When ‘Island hopping’ buffalo and waterbuck are common, lions and leopards also appear.

When to go?

Most camps in Lower Zambezi only operates from May-Nov, it is also the best time to see wildlife.
